why do we have to be on the other side of the WORLD?

We survived the strenuous, but totally worth it hike to iconic Wineglass Bay.  The weather was beautiful, the kids content for the most part but my darn legs were hurting!  We at lunch at the beach and on our way back we even saw a few wallabies! 

That night we stayed in an awesome lodge/cabin/hotel that felt like heaven for my sore body.  I could have stayed there a week.  We were in a comfy king size bed, kids asleep in their respective cribs (port-a-cots) and heard rain falling on the roof all night long...quite peaceful actually.

The rain never stopped. Never.  Turns out our lodge was right on the beach but it didn't really matter because all you could see out the window was a wall of water.  It rained and rained and rained - with a severe storm warning in effect all day. 

Despite the heavy rain we carried on to Port Arthur - a prior convict settlement turned into a fascinating historical site.  It was so neat to hear the stories and read the account of what happened there.  Oh yeah, and did I mention it was rainy?  The ponchos had nothing on this weather - we were completely soaked.  Wet wet wet but oh so memorable!





And finally we were forced to say our tearful goodbyes at the airport later that day (it was still raining).  Good friends are so hard to come by that it was especially hard to say farewell, knowing we live on the other side of the planet.  Thank goodness for email, facebook and blogs!  We can't wait for them to come visit us in the states (hint, hint).  Even though we've been home for more than a week, "Kyle" "Jess" and "Bastian" are still words frequently heard around here and I hope it always stays that way.  We miss you guys!!
