Saturday April 26

Saturday we ventured out to Normandie to see the D-Day beaches. Trains in France are tricky on Saturdays because they don’t run very often. After running around different coastal cities trying to find a tour going to beaches, we decided to scrap the tour idea and do it on our own; we rented a car. Not only did we rent a car, but we rented a FORD!!! It was a great day and we have the pictures to prove it…

There’s our beauty, a Ford Fiesta to take us around!

A coastal scene snapped while driving

Point du Hoc where you can see where the bombing took place by allied troops, the landscape looks like the moon!

Arromanches where the British made their attack

Omaha and Beach where the American troops made their attack

American Military Cemetery at Omaha Beach

Highlights of the day included
· Spencer being asked twice if he was from France because he speaks French so well!
· The amazing sights of rolling hills, stone houses and fences lining the roads, the blue blue ocean, daunting cliffs, and the sunshine
· Mackenzie nearly getting stuck in a crawl hole of an old German bunker – over ambitious!
· Coming back to our hotel to find chocolate lollipops in our room
