this is a tale of day with no expectations, which happened to get a complete makeover. a short ride on the NJ Turnpike, many bottles of water to combat the heat and humidity, some grandparent magic, a little NJ/NYC love, a wave from lady liberty, a $1 kite fatefully left in our car, the luring music coming from the ice cream truck, a sharing blitz and a little camera action and the afternoon came together.
the kite was pure magic and I was nearly belting out the Mary Poppins kite theme. It was our send off to summer - a fine way to cap off the waning moments of humidity drenched bliss of free time before school starts again. Summer apparently ended abruptly when the kite nose-dived into the Hudson under Madeleine's captainship; however, Spencer was able to resurrect our summer, and kite, and give us an indian summer. Point is, we're living on borrowed time now!
Three cheers for our $1 kite!
the ice cream just put the day over the top - bringing back childhood memories of saving up to get a vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles from the painted truck combing the city streets of Brooklyn every evening.
ahhh - I'll just revel in that memory for a moment. In the meantime, we're back in Boston, behind in blogging and happy just to get in our own beds after the last three months.
and Spencer had his last first day of school today. now THAT deserves three cheers!!
back to lady liberty and her 30 pictures she gave us...
