As our stuff was being packed, we went out on our patio to grab some things and were nearly attacked by a pigeon a number of times. Eventually we found out she had built a next under our air conditioner and even had an egg in it! This might be the closest we get to having a pet so I made sure the kids appreciated it. It seemed like hourly they would check on momma bird and watch her gather more sticks. By the end of the week there was even a second egg. So while one momma bird nursed constantly on the couch, the rest of the family was watching another momma bird prepare for a chick. It was adorable to see how fascinated and protective they were.
Madeleine from then on called herself Amelia's momma bird.
