i'm a terrible mom

this poor girl...here we are in the middle of June.  the heat and humidity are both in full swing as is the opportunity for madeleine to have all the quintessential childhood summer memories.  you know the ones - popsicles, sprinklers, ice cream truck, playgrounds, flip flops, fireworks, picnics, fireflies, bbqs, swings, and all sorts of other outdoor activites.

here's the problem - she has a mom who can't even get cool in her own home with the air conditioning on.  sometimes it takes driving around in the car with the a/c on at full blast just to feel somewhat comfortable. 

so there are many moments in the day that look like this - a cute little thing just begging and longing to go 'ou-side' as she says to see all her favorite things...'doggies' 'airplanes' 'bugs' 'cars' and 'flowers' among others.

this picture captures it all - bundled up in winter penguin pajamas because she's freezing and looking fondly at any and all outdoor space she can feast her eyes on.  fortunately for her, daddy always manages to save the day and build some fun summer memories while I fan myself on the couch...
